POWER DISPLAY, Sydney 2013

The project explored the use of public displays for residential use and  for encouraging energy conservation by the use of real-time visualizations.

In December 2013 two families in Sydney were asked to participate in a study to help understand the behavior of normal households in regard to conserving electricity in their everyday lives. Their houses were fitted with displays showing real-time energy consumption, thereby making it visible to neighbors and passers-by. From a tablet computer the families where then able to follow their usage and control what visualizations the outside display were showing.
